scam22
Hi there, Just wonderig if anyone out there can plpease help me. I have a MY01 Forester and it keeps blowing the park light. Its fuse number 5 "Tail Clearance" Every thing else works fine except my park lights. Could it be my light switch? Cheers!!!
Legacy777
Sounds like you have a short somewhere. It could be the bulbs, wiring, or possibly the switch. Does the fuse blow when the switch is off, or just when you turn the switch to turn the parking lights on?

Does the fuse blow when the switch is off, or just when you turn the switch to turn the parking lights on? Hey.......The fuse only blows when i switch on the park lights. I needed to get the car home that night so i put in a bigger fuse but it ended up blowing the lighting fuse under the bonnet. I played around with the dimmer switch and it seemed to not blow the fuse....... only had it on for a minute thoe.. will have to take it out for a drive and see. Legacy777
Like I said, you've got a short some where. If the dimmer switch keeps things from blowing, then the switch may be shorting out, or one of the interior illumination wires or bulbs could be shorting out. Either way, you need to have it fixed, and fixed properly. Electrical shorts are not something to take lightly as they could burn your car to the ground. ferret
Here is what F5 supplies: License plate light Tail light LH Tail light RH Trailer connector Front clearance light LH Front clearance light RH I might start by looking at the trailer wiring connector in the wheel well ( If you don't have a trailer hookup). It might be pinched or shorting. Also when my buddy put his rear 'spoiler' on his 2001 forester, he drilled a hole right thru the rear harness up high in the tailgate. So if you have that spoiler, another place to look. Also you might try unplugging the rear tailgate since you have 2 extra parking (finisher lights as Subaru calls them) on the tailgate. That can rule them out. Your light switch supplies power to F5, so if that were a problem a different fuse would be blowing.

Will have a look this weekend at all the lights and hopefully fix this problem as it is my wifes car and she need it for our new born.
