NV Zeno
OK, I'm growing a little weary of the one-ply snow tires I've been using over the years. I've discovered a tire on a '92 Ford Ecort (185/70/13, my size) that I really like. What little info I've found on them is that they're long lasting, very grippy on snow and ice, are stiffer in the sidewall, and appear to have the aggressive tread pattern I desire. I've been told that they're a little pricey, but that comment came from those who bought a much larger size, like 17"'s. I'm just looking to find out where to get them: preferably within Northern Nevada or Northern California. No luck with Tire Rack. I've also asked around at most of the tire dealers around the greater Ponderosa Ranch area (Reno/Tahoe)... "not in my computer", etc. They're the Nokian Hakkapeliita 10 (NOT the SUV model), studdable, but not studded. 185/70/13. Anyone know of a dealer that might have these? Thanks. GLCraig
That specific model is not listed on their website anymore. Here's a link to what they currently offer. http://www.nokiantires.com/newsite/tires_popup.cfm?id=1&w=1 here's another link to their dealer locations http://www.nokiantires.com/newsite/map.cfm
edrach
The Hakki 10 was discontinued 6 years ago. I wish the hadn't been since they would make a pretty decent rallycross tire. Craig's link to the Nokian website will get you a dealer list locally. Go with the full studless winter tire; you won't be sorry. I have a set of them on my Legacy; I haven't seen much snow this year, but they are also quite good in the rain.
