got pulled over in my soob

Recommended Posts

I got pulled over doing 56 in a 30 didn't get a ticket. And then about 2 months later got pulled over for doing 70 in a 60 and got a 595$ ticket cause the dumb rump roast cop couldn't read. (Thought my insurance card was expired when it wasn't. Came out to be a 100$. Then got another ticket 6 months later for doing 45 in a 25! But i know i wasn't going 45 cause I had 4 people in the car and it was a volvo.:D 50$:o

one time my dads van burst into flames in the parking lot of a chinese food restraunt and the cops in the other lot didn't even get out of their cars, too busy eating donuts I guess, when the fire department showed up 15 minutes later and the "show" was over, the cops left, not one word, not helping when it started to smoke, just leaving us sit there.

"thanks for your help officers":madder:

I've only been pulled over for a speeding ticket once... 82 mph in a 65, along I-90. Amsterdam, to be precise, a forty five minute drive west of Albany.

Trooper was an @$$&@(# about it... I've heard some cops will chat with you, ask you if you knew what speed you were doing, or maybe why you were going that fast. He basically said "I clocked you at 82 mph. Have you ever received a ticket before? Yada yada yada." Then he handed me the ticket, and walked away. No "Goodbye", "Have a nice day", or even a "Make sure you slow it down in the future."

Took it to court, though, without a lawyer. Showed up, the trooper didn't . A trooper showed up instead of him, though :dead:. When it was my turn to be called up in front of the judge, he asked if I wanted to talk outside for a bit, I said yes... the rest of the conversation went like:

Him: "So what did you want to talk about?"

Me: "Well, I had been driving for a long time that day, and I got on the gas going up the hill..."

Him: "So you wanted a reduction?"

Me: "... um, yeah... that'd be great."

Him: "What would you like it reduces to?"

Me: "Um...."

Him: "How's a parking ticket?"

Me: ":slobber: Um... yeah, that sounds great."

Him: "Great. Let's go back inside."

:banana::clap: :bday: :clap: :wave:

$120 ticket, no points against me. I'll take that any day... as long as it doesn't raise my insurance payment. Everybody else in that room, with the exception of one guy, got off on a parking ticket. Seems that if it's a speeding ticket, the state got the money... but if it's a parking ticket, then the state and the town split the fee, or something like that. I sure wasn't gonna complain.

Incidently, the one guy that didn't get off had a six month old ticket, or something like that... he was driving professionally, and his company stated they'd take care of the ticket for him. Four or five months later, the company folded, and he assumed the ticket had been taken care of. Nailed him for that one, they had. :banghead:

Cops have bad days, good days, funny days and dangerous days. They are human and like us at work, we sometimes take it out on those around us. They don't get paid near enough for putting up with our lame butt's. There are a lot of idiots on the road these days, just drive through even a small metro area. Spokane had 3 road rage incidents last week and I heard about a WOMAN that rammed a car then punched out the other drivers window when he stopped. Had his wife and kid in the car. I don't like getting caught speeding, and that is what it is, caught, and I don't like being pulled over for nothing. In the peoples republic of Washington, they invented the click it or ticket law. No other reason needed. I remember being escorted through Las Vegas by their local force for the crime of riding a motorcycle. The bottom line is argue with the judge, not the guy with the gun and all the power. The side of the road is not the place to hash it out. Get back underway as soon as possible and it will in the long run cause you the least amount of grief.:burnout:

we got stopped in ohoi coming home from jim's. the y brought the dog. there was a little something stuck under the center console, you know, the leftovers, so-to-speak. anyway, the dog snoffed around and alerted. the cops were crawling all over the RX, i was making comments like "is he fixing the parking brake?" they all look on the ground as if something had been tossed. they had to have us remove the air box to check there(because it was too complicated for the cop)

nope, they didnt find anything. they act like we were wrong but we got away with it. but it didnt help that my buddy had some seeds in his pocket!(he forgot they were there)

anyway, we tore apart the center console to fix the radio and do some wiring, still didnt find it...................

same thing happened to me once. we got pulled over by the sheriff and stuffed the greens in the console underneath the stereo. i had to spend 45 min. ripping this nissan apart just to find my smoke. oh, and the bastard sheriff that gave me my ticket came with one of his buddies and woke me up this morning to tell me he had a warrant for failure to appear(for my ticket, i just forgot) and took me to jail. icalled a friend of mine and he started a get brian out of jail fund and made everyone contribute $25.

moral of story:show up for court/slow down

I appreciate cops. I really do. Nobody has to put up with as many a-holes and their BS as they do. The one that pulled you over was probably just being a wongleflute. Like the one who gave me a reckless driving ticket ($3000 base fine) for going about 60 in a 30 at 12:19AM with no traffic. My first and only ticket. 90 day licence suspension. $410 in DMV+ court fees. Insurance increased by about 85%. I don't pay it anymore since I can't afford it. Nobody will hire me for a driving job until I'm at least 25. Not even washing cars. F*** that cop. And f*** that judge.

Just so you know, In many states (WA and OR included) doing double the speed limit is immediately reckless driving regardless of what the cop or the judge think about it.

Funny thing about consequences.. they are always there to bite you in the rump roast when you do something dumb;)

From the last time I talked to a state trooper, 25 mph over the posted speed limit in Alaska is a felony. If you get pulled over by a city cop doin 25+ over, you might as well cut you license in half before he even walks up to the car.

yeah they should definately base the fines on previous tickets/traffic offenses. 30 over when there is no other cars around you, at night shouldnt be a 3000 dollar ticket.

There needs to be some form of classes of drivers licenses.

Such As:

Seasonal Licenses (winter and summer)

Example: If you live in places like Alaska where we have snow/icey roads for 5 months out of the year the seasonal would apply to you. You must have a 4wd/AWD car to drive in the winter. Also you must do a slalom test on ice to show that you can control your car if and when you start to fishtail and/or go into a spin. For the summer license - 2wd cars are allowed. drivers must prove they can handle a car at highspeeds on a paved road with gravel on top (from when the roads were graveled in the winter)

Levels of License classes like in Gran Tursimo 4 (Level b, a, iB, iA, and super)

The varied levels could allow a higher leveled driver a higher speed limit. And yes, I did bring this idea up based from a Driving simulator for Playstation 2, but it seems to be a good idea.

[example: I practice defensive driving. All different speeds on different types of road surface, emergency manuevering etc. I probably put 3000 miles on the ice track up here this winter. I consider myself on a higher level of driving experience than most of the drivers on the road up here. Some might say that is a little conceeded to say, but its true. the people who do the most driving and know what to do to make your car move every direction (sideways)]

Anyone else with me on this, or is it another pipe dream?

Hey, I'm not saying it wasn't dumb, because it was. But holy hell, it's costing me thousands over a 7 year period. Hope they felt real good about making an example of the first time offender.

You aren't being 'made an example'. You aren't being picked on. No one is out to get you. The law simply mandates that if you commit a certain action that certain consequences follow.

Sucks that it was your first time. But , Pay to play and all that..

You bet there are some cops who have nothing better to do but calez is right. If you choose to break the rules you got to accept the concequences. The only thing going to court does is tell the judge that "yea I screwed up and I'd like a break for admitting it." Don't get me wrong I have been there before myself several times. The fact is I chose to break the law and I got caught. Not the cop's fault.

Smile, be polite and have a good lawyer. I'm telling you its the best way to go. So what if the guy's a jerk, that's his prob, not yours, right?

When I went to JMU I used to get pulled at least once a year doing 80+ (in a sube wagon so that was really impressive, or dumb depending on how you look at it.) Long story short; I have no moving violations on my record and I never have.

Now, the undercover explorer, that is one I have not seen yet. Thanks for the heads up. The one that catches me off guard down in this part of the state is the Chrysler sedan with blue lights on its back shelf. Watch out!
