Top
We recently bought a new 2006 OBW LL Bean and love everything about the car except the minimum temp setting. The lowest it can be set is 66 which is mighty warm during cold weather when heavy coats will be worn. I mentioned it to a salesman at a Subaru/GM dealer yesterday and he said that 60 is the minimum on the GMs. Does anyone know if there is an update avilable to change the lowest temp to something less that 66? Legacy777
At 66, does the air still feel warm? One would think the flapper door on the heater core would shut all the way so you can only have outside air....but maybe not.
Top
The problem is that when it is cold (20 degrees or colder) and the interior is just as cold the heater heats like crazy until the sensors recognize 66 degrees. They are mounted in the dash so until the dash gets warm its just like hanging an ice cube above the thermostat in your house. The air temp probably gets to 80 for 10 minutes or so. After everything gets warmed up the climate control works perfectly.
Legacy777
So your problem is pretty much a transient issue at startup in cold conditions. Unfortunately, there's probably nothing you can do since the issue is with the sensors measuring dash temp....and waiting for things to warm up. PAezb
The problem is due to where the temp sensor is located and not reacting fast enough to the cabin's temperture changes. This article may help, as I remember reading it some time ago. Looks like there is definitely interest in applying the change/mod to legacy's and outbacks as well: http://www.geocities.com/samiam_68/SubaruCCS/SSC_Fix.htm
toddkageals
I know this post is a year old but I am having the same problem with my '07 LLBean. Just wondering if you ever got it fixed?
Andyjo
are you sure the min. isn't 65? because at 65 it's supposed to blow as cold as it can... http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6515 sorry for the cross-forum referance
