bgd73
I am really babbling today! Anybody done this to change the throw distance on manual shifter? I spot them for newer rally based subarus, not for loyale (unless they are similar?) I'm not very tall, but getting comfortable is awkward with that shifters location and arm throw needed to go through the gears. I was thinking of putting a bent armed extension so i can sit back where I belong. Would love a shorter throw.....
robm
Maybe new bushings in the shifter? I don't notice that the shift is a terrible long throw on my '93. My old 510's had a terrible long throw, due to sloppy bushings. Third was found by pushing up and to the right, and flicking the shift knob with the fingertips to get it all the way home, somewhere near the glove box. samo
Short throws are usually accomplished by moving the fulcrum with respect to the shift knob. I.E. if you extended the bottom of the shift lever or shortened the top, or even better, do both at the same time. You could saw a bit off the shifter and reattach the knob, but you'd have to remove quite a bit before the throw would be much shorter.
