steep hill going 25mph shifting into 4th for clutch check

Recommended Posts

in another post, i mentioned that a mechanic recommended that my clutch be replaced. it was suggested by many that i just adjust it, which i am about to attempt. also, someone said to check if i need a new one by going up a steep hill at 25mph and shifting into 4th to see if it bogs down, and if it does, it is fine. now, i did that, and yes, it did bog down. am i alright, or am i missing something?

hey,

I was plagued with clutch slippage until adjusted. The true test isnt bogging it down. It will happen if bad adjustment/ clutch/hill holder at max torque (2750rpm to about 3300). If you smell it and it is still slipping after adjusting..... not good. I found high miles and rear main seal can leak in and pretend clutch is dead. They are very very surprisingly tough (I have had two that just wouldn't die -non-turbo.):) . I would blame everything but the clutch, until truly proven otherwise
