Subieguy
Alright the engine in my 85 GL-10 appears to be worn out. I just got the car for free on Saturday and it appears the former owner just drove the car into the ground. It is leaking oil everywhere. It just does not feel solid to me. So I have a 87 DL wagon that is a parts car. The engine and tranny are strong in it. It is a 2wd wagon and the 85 is also a 2wd. Question is can I use the FI motor out of the 87 to use in the 85. It is also fuel injected. I am going to do this if it will work. I can't see why it would not. As long as I am not trying to put a EA82T in its place, right? Any help would be appreciated. GLCraig
The biggest issue I can think of is if the 85 has an MPFI engine or an SPFI engine. If it is MPFI then it's not a simple bolt in swap.
MilesFox
actually if the car is indeed MPFI a turbo will ore or less plug and play, so long as the engine crossmember has the indentation for the turbo exhaust the blocks will swap if you took the otors apart to swap them but to take the otor apart you ay as well do a re-seal on the tired otor, and be good to go. if its an automatic you may as well swap in the 5spd as well
