seanski06
i think i better get a skid plate....too close of a call today ...drove through a puddle and to my surprise there was a massive rock in the center that was covered in muddy water...however luckily i somehow got my oilpan out of the way..however did nip the headers.... if any of you guys have one...u think u could toss me a sweet picture of what it looks like...and other crap like how far they bent it maybe....once it dries up im gonna climb under the car with a tape measurer and see how hard it would be to make my own skid plate..and it wouldnt hurt to have some accurate measurements that the smart ppl used..i seen them on websites for almost 200 bucks...which is insane considering all they did was bent some aluminum then drill some holes.... now that i already posted this...i realize it should be more in offroad than new gen srry bout that...im sure someone will move it
Andyjo
Let's just say that i SHOULD have one... i managed to bash the snot out of my oilpan the other day doing roughly the same thing you described... except i nailed the oilpan pretty hard, and got the headers also, nice dent in the borlas you don't want this to happen to you: oh well.. i guess i'll learn and for making your own skidplate, good call, i'm doing it, i'd use steel not aluminum... 1/8" plate should do it. i've got a piece about.. 24"x15" and it's just barely big enough to cover just the oilpan and some littler stuff, i think i'm going to get under there & measure it up and get a bigger piece for the job... perhaps re-enforce it w/ some small square tube, and weld the snot out of it. Andyjo
if u get those measurements before me let me know how it went.. 24" long will get you from the front bolts of the 'jacking plate' under the rack to the front bumper, straight line, no bend, i threw the plate under there the other day and it just barely fit, and i've chopped off about 2" from the end of it.. so there yah go. seanski06
that was helpful.....how about width ...how much are you planning on covering?
Beegeer
I was under my Imp last night. 34 x 18. I'm gonna put 10degree bend about 8 in off one of the 34in sides. I think It will clear the exhaust, if not I will make cut outs. I'll post a pic when done... 0.187 5052-H32
