river2surf
Is it possible to replace the engine in my GL-10 Turbo body, which has an XT MPFI 1.8L engine now, with the XT6 motor? What ECM does the XT6 use? Will a full wiring harness replacement be necessary? Also, want to replace the single range AWD trany with a HI/LOW model if possible! This would give me the Diff. lock and low range!
Jerry DeMoss
The ER27 while it is a good engine weighs alot more than your ea82 does.I think you would be better off moddin' your engine a little or replace with a ej22.Just my thoughts.
Subarian
It's also a lot longer. You would have to do some serious custom fabricating to make it work. There's a guy on the board, Loyale2.7turbo, who's got a 2.7 in his wagon, but he hasn't offered any details on how it's installed. You might ask him. mikeshoup
You will need the wiring harness (or at least a part of it). Remember, the XT6 has two extra injectors. You will also need the ECU from an XT6. This would require a lot of fab work and probably relocation of the radiator. If you've ever looked at an XT6, then at an XT, you'll see the XT6's radiator is moved forward quite far to accomidate the larger engine. Good luck. TomRhere
The distance from the motor mount stud (that goes thru the crossmember) to the front of the crank pulley of an ER-27, is 17-1/2". You'll need atleast 18" from the crossmember slot, forward, on the car it's going into, just to get the accessory drive belt onto the pulleys. Which means you'll have to re-work the bottom of the radiator support some, or cut it out, and build a different, stronger bumper to tie the front frame rails together.
