EA82T customed

Recommended Posts

I am curious about EA82T and thier mods. They aren't popular here due to the extreme elements(shamefully). In fact the non-turbo old carbuerated would be more popular than the SPFI if more available. I have read about enthusiastic projects elsewhere and am curious what is the most an EA82T has achieved. I did find an old rx (87ish 4 headlights) rusting away, (unless it just looks like one with a turbo) and may dive in to the challenge if owner lets go.I have fantastic luck with the higher compression and tinkering, no turbo or EGR at all.

I think the most anyone here on this board has achieved with an EA82T, has been WJM. He has gotten roughly 230 crank hp out of one in his '87 RX coupe. I am currently working on getting more out of it, but I have tuning issues and some other things like that before I can take it to the awd dyno down in Colorado to see what I'm putting out.

Due to a change in lifestyle, I gotta recover some of my costs.

Have spent over $12,000 in the last year on it with the intention of finishing the project. No expense was spared with the build, all work done by professionals. Only thing I didnt get done was the bodywork. Have all the genuine RX side strips, front rubber skirt & boot spoiler & grille (not fitted)

Current engine contains all the good bits - custom forged pistons, chrome rings, balanced crank & rods, large duration cams, o-ringed heads good for 30psi+ boost.

New driveline (fresh gearbox, clutch & flywheel new rear subframe, suspension arms, drive-shafts, brake rotors and wheel bearings)

These are the componants that have only just been replaced. See below for complete list of mods. Comes with 2 sets of wheels (15" Superlites & 13" Enkei rally) both have new sets of tires. Will supply personalised plates ORX.18 (QLD) and stereo at buyers discression.

I have same color sedan :)

That's is a lot of power. Did you brace anything in the trunk on the sedan? I found something weird back there, not a weakness but a bender/twister below rear window.... After that hunch I lost rear bearings simultaneously in a way that took the 2 rear wheels steering to the right. I search for this "torque on the body" stuff since my GM v8 and a t-top coupe (damn near catastrophe!). 4wd must be a big help to disperse power.Very Nice setup. :burnout:
