Numbchux
OK, pretty much the last thing I need for my RX tranny swap into my loyale....the axles. so turbo subarus are pretty rare, even in junkyards around here. so I would like to know which models will have these? is it just all FT4WD 4-cyl EA82s? or did some PT4WD cars have them? yes, I searched, couldn't seem to think of any search keywords that didn't get me 85 billion threads to sort through.... GLCraig
Any EA82T with a Manual Transmission or any EA82 with a 4EAT automatic.
calebz
I have a good pair left over from my 5 lug. Neither made any noise, though one looks a little rough. Boots are in tact and they were trouble free before getting pulled and stored in the garage a year ago or so.
Numbchux
Any EA82T with a Manual Transmission or any EA82 with a 4EAT automatic. wait....any EA82t with a 5-speed?! even FWD? calebz, if the FWD ones work, I'll have a pair from the junkyard for cheap.....but if not, or if the car isn't there anymore, what do you want for yours? GeneralDisorder
If you have some legacy's in your yards, you might look at the spline count of those guys too. The joint may fit the EA82 axles. GD
MilesFox
if your car WAS a turbo 3at, the 25 spline axle cup will swap onto the axles,if the axles are true 3at turbos
Numbchux
I've tried the legacy inner joint onto EA82 shaft.....couldn't make it work, it might be possible, but not easily. the loyale was NA FWD 3AT I know where there's an '86 FWD 3AT GL-10 turbo wagon in a junkyard. will these axles work? GeneralDisorder
I think you may need some DOJ's from a 2.2 turbo legacy.... There's tons of combinations out there - call a rebuilder or two and see if you can get an answer from em. GD
mikie
The legacies have the bigger gearbox spline and then either 22 or 30 spline axles. The ea82 subies use 22 spline rear axles, the front are usually bigger, 22, 23 and 27 exist at the very least.
86ruguy
i just got an inner cup off a 91 legacy from the junk yard yesterday. it had an auto and 2 wd. i am going to put it on today.
calebz
, the front are usually bigger, 22, 23 and 27 exist at the very least. Turbo manual and 4EAT = 25 spline All else = 23 spline (applicable to EA82 only)
calebz
I know where there's an '86 FWD 3AT GL-10 turbo wagon in a junkyard. will these axles work? Nope - 23 spline. You need
mikie
Turbo manual and 4EAT = 25 spline All else = 23 spline (applicable to EA82 only) Sorry, i was refering to the spline count on the axle itself, not the spline count on the gearbox. So for legacy you have 25/22 and 25/30 (trans/axle) and for leone etc you can have a squillion combinations inc 23 and 25 trans side and 22,23,27 and maybe more axle side. I reiterate Turbo manual and 4EAT - 25 spline All else - 23 spline Those are the DOJ side Axle spline counts. There are no 'squillion' options or combinations. As far as the outer/hub side goes, they are all the same. Of course, again, this applies to EA82
