Gnuman
I have a friend that just got an Impreza L wagon, and swears that the tank is 10 gal. My Legacy (and every Legacy I know of) carries 15.8 gal. I'm guessing that the fuel guage sender in the tank is dirty, and showing empty way before the tank is even close. Second: the car came without Cruise Control. Is it a major undertaking to retrofit Cruise into this (what I most want to know is "Is the wiring already there?") IIRC, the cruise computer is in the center console below the radio headunit. I also know that I would need to get the cruise solenoid for under the hood (that is the part that the computer controls. It actuates the cruise servo that has a throttle cable on it, also under the hood), as well as a stalk for the wheel, and the on/off button. Putting them in should also be no problem, as I'm unafraid to take the dash apart to get at things that I may need to.
avk
If it's a model with 1.8 l and AWD, the tank is 13.2 gal: the bottom does not drop down on the left side of the driveshaft. Cruise control is very simple if you have the factory add-on kit (currently about $60 but probably hard to find) or a donor car. It's designed to be added as an accessory, you just need to have all of the pieces.
Gnuman
Thanks for that. It is a 2.2L AWD model. so is it 13 gals or 15 under those circumstances? Add on kit for $60? Cool! I'll be calling Jason real soon then.
RallyKeith
Depending on the year they list the cruise kits on subaruparts.com I installed one in my 95 Legacy in 1 hour, and we did one in my dad's 96 impreza in about the same. I think it was about $60. There is a good bit that goes into it for the impreza: Switch for the dash Lever for on the steering wheel Replacement Brake pedal switch replacement clutch pedal switch (if manual) Control module (mounted under the steering column) Vaccum line that attaches to the intake manifold and goes to: Vaccum switch that i believe mounts by the AC Dryer and then goes to: Vaccum cable thing that attaches to the fire wall and then the cable goes to the throttle Keith

Gnuman
Yeah, that is fairly standard for a Subaru Cruise control. Control unit is under the column, eh
