the sucker king
how do you remove the door/body bumper strips on ea81 style cars? i'm not talking about the wide black ones near the bottom, but the chrome and rubber ones that run right through the middle of the door and body. the rubber strip peels right of, but the chrome thingy is rivited on. so how do you remove without damaging the body? Jerry DeMoss
To get the chrome things off you may just have to drill out the rivets. And to get the adhesive stuff off I have always used a heat gun and some orange oil cleaner, seems to do the trick. GeneralDisorder
They have little screws under the rubber - the track screws on. Little phillips heads IIRC. They leave holes :-\ GD
75subie
They have little screws under the rubber huh, all the ones i ever removed were rivetted on. drilling or prying was the only option to remove.
GeneralDisorder
Could be a year thing - the one I pulled off the coupe door that is now on my Brat was like that.... maybe depends on the year and style of the trim strip.... either that or it was painted or something and I didn't notice. Body shop could have put them on I suppose GD
