peejay
Hi I've got an EJ20G connected to an AWD RX turbo box, using the EA82T clutch and flywheel, but the clutch needs replacing now and it would be nice to get something a bit stronger. Is it possible to use, say an EJ22 clutch and flywheel, in the above setup? This is an offroad beast so I'm not going to hammer the poor thing (much) so I don't need a hydrolic clutch or anything serious lke that. Just looking for a cheap upgrade while it is all apart. peejay
I'm not sure if I could get one of those in Australia. I know I can't get an XT6 flywheel.
mikie
Youre clutch plate should be interchangeable with any wrx plate, they are the same spline and should both me 9". You could get an aftermarket ceramic with a sprung centre, or Clutch industries in aus even make a ceramic plate with sprung centre and leaves so you keep most driveability but get a decent upgrade in power handling. You would probably have to get youre cover rebuilt as a heavier unit, unless CI do upgraded EA82 covers as well.
86ruguy
just a note.....the xt6 clutch is the exact same clutch as the ea82t clutch happy hunting
baccaruda
yeah, it's not the disc that needs the upgrading that much, it's the clutch cover (aka pressure plate) that allows slippage. Get a heavy-duty pressure plate and sure, while you're at it, upgrade the disc itself.
mikie
The CI part number is RPM397N-SSC, apparently they have them on the shelf in aus. Heavy duty cover and sprung puck plate.
ballitch
you can use any clutch disc from the WRX, but it sounds like you need a better pressure plate. i would rather use an organic clutch disc w/ a heavy duty pressure plate than a 4 or 6 puck disc. if you wheel this beast you need finess, not power. i love my XT-6 disc w/ XT-6 pres. plate mated to EJ22 for wheelin'. ~Josh~
