azsubaru
Don't know about Code 12 - reset the codes and see if it goes away. Code 34 is almost always the EGR Solenoid. It's on top the engine, just to the passenger side of the throttle body. There are two solenoids in the same area, the EGR solenoid has a vacuum tube that goes out toward the rear of the engine to the EGR valve. You can check it by unplugging the solenoid and sticking a 68 ohm resister in the empty plug. If the code 34 goes away, then that's the problem. If you don't have to pass emissions, you can leave the resister in there (attach it securely, or course) and the car will run fine. go to www.thepartsbin.com and type in part number B7079-60044 for a picture of a simiilar solenoid. It's a purge valve solenoid, but looks the same and could probably be used in place of an EGR solenoid.

subeman90
I was always told to never worry about code 12 b/c it is a generic code to show that your ignition switch works. Basically 12= garbage (don't worry about it)
VorpalBunny
I just checked mine on my '90 Loyale and found to have # 11, 13, 14, 34, and 35! Heck, it has 205k on it so I'm gonna drive it until it dies!
Davalos
Okay, forgive the obviously newbie question: How do you check these codes? I"m in a '90 Loyale Wagon 2WD Stick The Subaru Dealer want $85 for me to get in the door - my local shop wants $65 bucks to get it on the lift, and I'm figuring I could BUY a reader for that ... but I haven't had much luck. I asked at my local "Murray's" and they said that I'd need an adaptor and "go see the dealer" Ha! My Check Engine light has been on since I bought it ... I thought it was just nothing, until I blew a fusible link the other week & the codes I guess cleared ... when I fired-it-up after overnight of no power, the light was off. but they were back within about 15 minutes, so I figure something it up .. Sorry if this is one of those "Um, I'm new here ... what's 1 plus 1?" questions ... I looked thru the 1st 20 pages of threads & this is the closest I found to it ... but it sounds like everyone posting here already knows what's what ... Thanks!
