Subarian
The phrase, "As good as it gets" comes to mind. You might make a little more HP with delta cams and a port and polish of the heads. To get significant gains, you'd need to go with a turbo or swap in an ej22. Of course, a good tuneup will ensure you're getting the most the SPFI has to offer. GeneralDisorder
Could get 5 more HP by swapping to the MPFI heads, intake and wiring from a late model XT. (Rather than a port/polish, which probably wouldn't net you even 5). But that's a ton of work for 5 HP. Better off getting an EJ22. "As good as it gets" about covers it really. In more ways than one. Not just for HP, but for simplicity, and reliability too. GD
simple monkey
open the intake, and open the exhaust. k&n put a cone on a stock r32 golf, and it gained 32 ponies. so, getting a cone filter will get 2-3 ponies for you. muffler shops can make you a new y pipe for less than $300, and and the rest of the catback and whatnot for $200 or less. that might add 5 ponies. if it doesn't add much power, it will sound cool.
