Water injection..experiences and opinions please

Recommended Posts

Howdy all,

Interested to hear what people have to say about the topic.

I am planning to inject via 2 375cc injectors in the inlet tubing (after supercharger).

As I am dedicated LPG, I have a redundant fuel tank, lines and pump all in place and waiting for a tankfull of water.

Will an electric fuel pump (NA) supply enough pressure to vaporise the water?

Thanks

Matt

an FI type pump should do it, a carby pump only supplies about 6psi

how are you going to regulate the amount of water going into the inlet?

My guess is that will be Waaaaaay too much water. I had run Water Injection in place of an air2air intercooler on several 2.2 turbo'ed chryslers. I had installed a kit, that cost about $75 in 1990's $$$'s. It had a pump built into the bottle, and it held 40 oz's of water, or alcohol/water. The nozzle went in after the turbo, and made a HUGE difference. We were routinely taking our boost to 20 Lbs, and showing local Mustangs & Camaro's our Backside!

I think you'd be wise to go with a kit, evaluate how it works, and then work on improving certain aspects of the design to fit your needs. Starting out building your own sounds like re-inventing the wheel.

Best of luck!
