75subie
there is this guy in AZ that contacted me with his 79 brat for sale. it doesn`t run currently, but the guy has owned it over 10 yrs. he said the body is very clean, and it also has a clear title, jump seats, A-bar, roll bar, factory spoiler, and extra mag rims (If anyone buys it, i would buy the rims for $80) . he said it should run pretty easilly, but it has been setting for awhile. the interior is sunbaked he says. it is so tempting, but unless he got it running, i just couldn`t afford the shipping. he wants $150 for it, and if you guys don`t get it soon, its going on ebay or to the scrapyard!! get it fast!!!i can`t recall where in AZ he said it was, but i can find out. pm me with any Q's or contact info. here are a few small pics.... SuBrat84
If you paid $150 for it.. how much do you think it would cost to get it reliable enough to make the drive out there? How much gas would it take? Would you buy me a train ticket home? Just a thought
75subie
heck yes, that would be awesome, i would just hate to ask someone to do that for me:lol: unless you were planning an east coast trip of course:brow:
SuBrat84
Well I'm not planning on it... and it would be a bonus to be able to take my girl with me, but not a requirement:cool: .. how far out of the way would West Virginia(my parents) be? I would LOVE to do something like that... I just can't really justify spending any of MY money on it.... (sending pm)
75subie
for the east coasters....If Eli would still want to do something like this, you could have the truck to NY or CT for not a whole lot more than $1100. i broke down the costs to $200 for food, $340 gas, $350 2 plane or train tickets home, $150 for the truck, approx $50 to get it running. just a thought for someone far way who wants it....... Thanks again Eli, for the offer!
SuBrat84
Of course! And to anyone else that may be interested in working something out.. I wouldn't expect you to pay for my food. I have a cooler and know how to shop.. food is cheap.. and if I get anywhere near WV I can hit my parents up for food too. I would hate to see this one go to a yard. RenaissanceMan
So all in all it was just shy of a 1300 mile round trip... We left saturday night, and got back sunday night, with a total trip time of 27 hours and about 2.5 hours of sleep in that. The bad news is that shes got a bad windshield, and a dented hood (use your imagination) as well as a busted tail light. Its been sitting since 1987 so bad tires are to be expected. The good news (lots of good news) is that I first of all have a good windshield, and a good hood, so thats no big deal. I also have a tail light. After close inspection I have found out that this is a GL model, meaning its got electronic ignition, a TACH!!!, the cool looking 4 spoke steering wheel, as well as all those external goodies like the roll bar and the push bar. The only thing really wrong with this car is that it has been sitting. engine compartment just needs to be rinsed off. drivetrain is supposingly good. NO SIGNIFIGANT RUST!! the only rust I see is on the rollbar/pushbar, and some minor surface stuff here and there. It its got a straight body almost ready to be prepped and painted! So anyway, more update will follow when I do the fluids/tune up things, and try to fire it up. overall a great condition brat once I trade out interiors for mine. -Mike ON another note, so who was the one that called up Wayne and screwed me out of those rims that were to come with it?? if you wanted them that bad I am sure we would have worked it out no problem. I already have peugots so I really dont need any 13ers

75subie
actually, i had told wayne a i wanted the rims weeks ago, so he called me once you had bought the brat. i figured that you probly wouldn`t want the trouble of boxing the rims.... i thought it was a pretty good deal, sorry if you thought otherwise........ Jon if i didn`t post it here, or sent you his contact info, it would have probly went to the scrap yard.
