Looking to TURBOCHARGE my Loyale

Hey there folks!:D

I have a '93 Loyale 2WD with a manual transmission. Recently I have come across a junkyard with an old XT Turbo and I was wondering how difficult it would be to fit the turbo parts to my Loyale. I'll need a rebuild kit for the turbocharger I assume, as well as a new set of gaskets; but exactly what all do I need to pull from the XT? Computer? Harnesses? Manifolds? Anything else?

Thanks in advance!:)

Entire engine. Do a search - you'll find plenty of threads on that sort of thing.

Bottom end of the engine as well as the heads are different. You need the entire engine.

Thanks GD; I was afraid of that...I'll do some more research on it, like you said.:-\

if your going to go through all that trouble to do a swap. i would go with an EJ swap. it will cost you about the same and you will be doing the same work. and you will get more HP. cant loose.

Cost about the same? $500 or less is what I usually pay for a donor car for a project like this.

If you can hook me up with a turbo EJ setup for $500 or less that has all I need, I'll be there next week with the cash. (Would come now, but I'm in San Antonio on vacation)

i didnt say an EJ turbo swap. i just said EJ swap. the EA82t has 115HP the EJ22 has 142HP and yeah you can find a 2.2 legacy around here for $500. if you want to do a 2.2t swap i have seen many 2.2t legacys go for around 1k, or if you really wanted to make that thing move. a WRX 260HP clip can be found for 2.5k ish.

just my $0.02 take it for what its worth.

To elaborate on the original question a little more...

You need the engine, the intake and exhaust system back past the second CatCon, the engine wiring harness, probably some of the dash area wiring harness, the fuel pump and maybe some of the lines (not sure if SPFI lines are same as MPFI/turbo lines), and the engine/suspension crossmember. Probably a lot of other little things. As implied in other posts such as Calebz', buying a donor car is the best way to go.

A lot of effort for not much benefit. The turbo engines really are a tradeoff of a little more power for lower reliability and lower fuel economy (7.7 Compression Ratio).

i did the ej22 n/a swap in my 86 wagon and am very impressed by the power difference. if you want to increase HP, then i would definately go for the ej swap not the ea82t stuff.

i picked up my donor legacy for $450.00

just trying to help.
