mikeshoup
I talked to a lady earlier today selling an 86 EA81 Hatchback. She's asking $500. She says it has a hole somewhere in the exhaust, needs a new ignition switch (I'm not sure why, I need to ask), needs a new brake fluid reservoir (I'm guessing it needs a new master cylinder really), and a CV joint. She says it has a new alternator, distributor, radiator, and has no rust. Is it worth $500? I'm thinking I can talk her down, she sounded desperate. I'm thinking like $350 is what I'd spend on it. 75subie
is it 4wd? $350 sounds like a fair price to me, hatches are getting hard to come by in decent shape.
mikeshoup
This is the CL posting: http://denver.craigslist.org/car/165550666.html Yeah, 4spd 4WD. Since its a 4spd, I can be assured she's talking about an EA81 hatch, right? and not the EA82 3dr coupe?
75subie
yup, it sounds like an ea81 hatch alright, ea82s didn`t have 4sp's. after fixing all that wrong with it, you could probly have a nice clean hatch for under $600-700 wich isn`t bad in my opinion. Caboobaroo
yes, it will be an EA81 Mike. Since it is 4wd AND has a few new parts in it, 500 sounds like a fair deal...
DrKrazy
I saw that one on CL, depending on condition of the body, it could easily be worth the $500. Of course you want to get as cheap as possible. Oh and defintely an EA81, no EA82's had 4-speeds. Jerry went through months of looking at hatches, so he is one that should chime in here. I swear he looked at least 10 different ones. Caboobaroo
umm well Bill is out of town this weekend and hopefully I can finish it up next weekend. Also got a new door on it since the driver rear had a huge dent in it but all is well now:D
mikeshoup
I think I'll pass on this hatch. If any of you Colorado guys want to look at it, she wants to sell it by mid-day tomorrow. I can give you her phone number if you want.
