Why is Subaru gettting rid of the Baja

Recommended Posts

Me again just wondering why the Baja line is coming to an end?

 If subaru would make a "TRUCK" instead of a sawed off station-wagon, with just the basics such as the radio, heater, and a few other options(less is better) much lke the "advanced design" Chevy trucks built from 1948-1954.Many of which are still on the road, They could offer 4 wheel lock-up, higher ground clearance, and keep the symetrical all wheel drive technoogy, they would sell millions of them! ......My 2 cents.

The Baja was originally intended to be produced for a short run from it's inception. Reason: it is built on the OLD legacy platform, not the current one. It it had sold any nice numbers, it may have been incorporated into the current lineup. But as someone pointed out, it did'nt. It was just a way to get a few more numbers on the old platform. Notice Subarus' acheiving record retail sales for the last 3 years. Without the Baja numbers, that would not have happened!

That's the response I was looking for... I'd imagined getting a BAJA as my daily driver, so it would compliment my BRAT. I also imagine getting a Gen-1 BRAT for my Subaru stable, as well as a couple German and Italian cars for the "Axis Powers" wing of my car collection.

I like the BAJA, but I'd get that hard tonnueau cover for it since I'm in Wisco. Gotta keep the beer cans and cheese heads from piling up in the bed.
