xantarion
Hi. I just installed a new engine in my subaru impreza 1998. My old angine was 1.6litre (EJ16), and my new one is an 1.8l (EJ18). The new engine runs ok for about 10 sec., before it stops. I then have to wait a minute or two before I'm able to get it to start again (for 10 sec.) Please help. (I live in Norway, and I know that you guys in america don't have the same egine types. But hopefully someone has had a similar problem..)
JPX
Lots of quick checks to be made: All fuel hoses reconnected with the injector rail. Fuel injectors connected to their electrical harnesses Gas in tank - hey sometimes it happens. All vacuum lines connected up - lots of them to look for. Alternator connected properly. All earth connections from the battery accounted for? Fuel pump operating correctly - plugged in? New fuel filter might be needed? Here is a disassembly list you can reference to see if there is anything else you might have forgotten. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=59033
Cougar
The fuel pump may be shutting down on the car. Try spraying some starter fluid into the intake when it starts to die on you. If the engine trys to keep going then you know you have a fuel problem.

Setright
Hejsa ! Prøv at se om din tomgangsventil er koblet til. Det vil sige om slangen der går fra luftfilteret til ventil er forbundet. Uden denne vil motoren ikke holde tomgang. Loose translation: IAC hose, is it connected?
Cougar
I've already tried that. It still stops.. So you know that it isn't a fuel problem then. That would leave the ignition to check and then the MAF sensor, if the ignition is ok. Check to see if you have spark immediately after it quits.
