i have an 87 gl sedan, i use the car as a daily driver and a weekend racer (its not competitive, just fun)

 

i never use the back seat or trunk at all...i was wondering what kind of weight can be saved by removing the back seat carpeting and other interior bits, and if its worth the overall savings? please keep in mind that if its only good for 3/10ths of a sec i wouldn't call that worth it!!!

 

any help would be appreciated, and if anybody has actually weighed this stuff that would be good too.

maybe 50 lbs max. The seat bottom is light, the back especially if it folds down is heavy

so your saying it may not be worth the effort, oh well.

In the Sedans, the seat parts are maybe 10 pounds total. Just foam and fabric really. Totally not worth it.

If you never use them, get rid of them. My car drives heaps worse with 40KG in the back, lighter = faster. Every bit is worth it

But if you arn't going to far with that car... Maybe not bother
