Get out your decoder rings ... (tranny)

Recommended Posts

Alas i think i have to the blue to the sooby doctor.

This just started todaym, and doesnt do it all the time. Start the car, the tranny light flashes 16 times then goes out.

Duty C Solenoid?

I have no torque bind at all and still under doctors orders not to do anything (and the 1 year mark is coming up oh joy).

So do i have to take out the plastic or what?

Uh Nipper, year and model ;) ?

If it's 4 groups of 4 flashes each, I believe that's an indication of a general electrical problem (not specific); you'd need to pull the code to get details. If yours is a 95-98 Legacy (or some similar model), you might be able to get someone to crawl under the dash and use connector B82 and ground probe to get the AT dash lamp to blink the code(s). See pages 12 and 13 of http://endwrench.com/images/pdfs/4EATPh1Win04.pdf

Impreza outback sport (2.2 SOHC), Or Legacy Outback (2.5 DOHC)?

If it is blinking at 1/8 second intervals, your battery is going. Perhaps just your grounds need cleaning up. AllData is making it a bit difficult to decipher what it is I'm looking for here. If it blinks at 1/4 second intervals it is fine.

Tell me if it stays lit for 1.2 seconds and then count the number of blinks following and I will have a code for you.

Sorry, I don't have info on 16 flashes of equal length and spacing. However, retrieving AT trouble codes for your OB is covered in the link and page numbers I mentioned above.

i just noticed at times my 1-2 shift seems harsh and the car seems to be avoiding going down to first sometimes (almost like it knows something).

i'll order the reisitor from jamie tomorrow.

Droped the car off at Grand Prix Subaru here in Hicksville NY, I always find it disconcerting when i know more then the service writer. I said the car had torque bind (of course the damn light wouldnt flash) and he gave me this deer in the headlights look.

I just dictated what to write on the work order so we shall see what happens. When i drove to Physical therapy today the car was perfect, luckily from PT to the dealer it started acting up.

Why do i have the feeling they arent going to find anything
