Where to start?

Recommended Posts

So I finally have some time to start working on the oldster.

Where do I start? Are there any books (Chiltons or Haynes) for the wagon? I guess first thing is take the plow off to see what else is going on. Thanks for input.

What type of wagon is it?

You need to look on eBay... like... now :). Not 2 weeks after I bought my 79, I had already bought official 78 and 79 Subaru FSM's, and a 71-79 Subaru Haynes manual. Last time I checked, other auctions for the same manuals are up on eBay right now.

Yes,check eBay.

If you don't like eBay or refuse to deal with it,etc. I'll likely be able to help you out,or another board member, with a factory service manual.(FSM)

I also have factory parts manuals too, right here handy.

Where to start? If you're doing it 100% right,or as close as possible you should get a rotisserie to lift the vehicle up and be able to rotate it to EASILY work on the body....that is if you're doing the body.

Am I getting too deep here? I'm not sure to what extent you plan on retoring or refurbishing the car.

A 100% correct restoration is much more near impossible than probable. But you can get it looking really close to 100% and fabricate some rubber parts, etc.

Have to cook dinner.I'll check back later.

Not sure that i can do body work. I would like to restore it to close to original. I would probably have to sub out the body work. The mechanical stuff i should be able to do. Iwill check ebay and other sites for a FSM.

Thanks

Well,I guess now I have to work the plow I have into my '78 restoration. Seeing yours has certainly got me thinking about it.Thanks again for all your pictures you posted.

We might be hitting the White Mtns for a weekend over the summer.Maybe we'll get over to see you.
