Scott in Bellingham Posted July 19, 2006 Share Posted July 19, 2006 Just read all these posts , I have a 91 Legacy EJ22 with a manual 5-speed, i plan on putting it in the shortened EA82 turbo wagon. with a divorced transfercase and 8+ inch lift, Ok can I open that tranny up weld up the Diff spiders and get all the power out the rear tranny shaft ??? :eek: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Numbchux Posted July 20, 2006 Share Posted July 20, 2006 just thought I'd add that Andy's switch will work with stock gearing, and mildly bigger tires. but Mudrat79 ran an Early EJ series Auto with a divorced Tcase behind it and much bigger tires (I think they were still only 33s though), and it needed substantially more modification to handle the torque a guy here in MN welded the center diff on his 5-speed, and ran it in RWD. so I know that could easily be done but, if you're going offroad, I'd HIGHLY recommend an auto, if you have the choice Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
