Turbo oil line replacement??? Who's done it?

Recommended Posts

The rubber one underneath. I have to replace it, it's hard and leaking, and before I tear into it I would like to know what size to get. I can feel it, and it feels like 5/8" or 1/2" and only four or five inches long.

I think it was 5/8. I just took a look at the spare RX drivetrain I have and thats what it looks like to me.

make sure to use some really good hose. heater hose will not cut it. fuel line may be iffy too. push lock or somthing of that nature might be ok.

You got me thinking, so I looked under my car and I too have to change out the hose...went down to the Subaru dealer and he told me quikly that the part(hose) would cost about $20 dollars...Less then a couple of minutes later he told me that the numbers have been superceded with a new price tag of $118.oo for the little hose and possibly a small metal pipe coming down from the turbo( this is the Canadian situation)... the parts guy said that they use a Synthetic hose from Sweden(feels like great stuff) for all applictions that seem to be to expensive when having to use the orginal part..he gave a piece of hose for nothing and it can be used in all applictions useing either hot water/gas/ oil/.. and the part # VOLVO 949701 014 1134 sweden..I am not actually sure what is the part number, just copying from the hose.......

Sounds like silicone hose.

I found a link for silicone turbo oil drain hose,

http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=ATP-OIL-024&Category_Code=OIL

and it got me thinking. When I was working at NAPA we had silicone hose, it's high temp, plyable, and cheap. But when I called they only had 3/4 and 1/2, no 5/8. So tomorrow I'm going there top get some multi use hose that resists petroleum but it's only rated at 200 degrees. We'll see how that holds up.
