DaBrizat
Hey guys! I'd like to see if I could get some more comfy seats for my '85 BRAT that'll be just a bolt-in modification. Are there any other seats out there (with less arse-crushed padding) that a guy like me (not very mechanically inclined) could do? Or would it be an exercise of finding Subi seats of a similar vintage that are more comfy? New aftermarket seats prob'ly require some cutting and drilling, eh? The BRAT used to belong to my great-uncle (my Dad's uncle) and has only 50,000 miles on it, so out of respect to Uncle Pete, I'm sticking to only bolt-on mods for it. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, DaBrizat
Jerry DeMoss
Sounds like you have a nice brat there. One set of seats you would probly really like would be some rx seats. They have height adjustment and good side padding. They tend to be a little hard to find though. This would be a direct bolt in as well. Early Legacy Seats have an even simple bracket, but the seats are wider, and you may have to cut the door sill trim.... I got a hold of some newer 2.5RS seats, and apparently, you can just need to drill new holes in the bottom of the RS seats, and bolt in the EA81 brackets.... GeneralDisorder
Late 80's Izuzu Impulse seats are almost a bolt it - three of the 4 holes line up, and the 4th is easy - I just made a little adaptor with a bit of 1/2" x 1/8" flat bar I had around - the adaptor is about 2" long with two holes drilled in it. They sit lower and provide more leg room, and nicely do away with the crappy vinyl seats that came in the Brat. GD
Cynical
an alternative to that would be to have the seats re-upholstered(sp?) i had my 82 wagon front seats done an an awesome black and charcoal, besides the fact that the rails are old and have a bit of wiggle in them, the seats came up perfect, new cushion for the rear end. and best looking 82 subi seats i've ever seen Cynical
