bkcraun
Just bought a 1995 Legacy AWD wagon with 118,000 miles on it. I negotiated with the dealer to replace the timing belt and water pump and change the oil. Do I need anything else done at 118,000 miles? Thanks. dxrflyboy
Have the car checked for oil leaks before you buy it. Older EJ engines such as yours have a phenolic cover plate in the bellhousing area that tends to leak. The engine has to be removed to replace it with an updated aluminum plate. At this mileage, the cam and crank seals may also be leaking. The best time to change them is during a timing belt replacement.
Suzam
At 118,000 consider changing the transfer case and rear differential oil with a synthetic. Also a transmission fluid change would be a good idea also.
nipper
and replace the crank seal, cam seals, and re seal the oil pump. Replace the water pump. Pay for those out of pocket and its not that bad. This way the car will be golden for the next 100K Make sure hes replacing the tensioner. nipper
