7/2 ORG rallyx scores are posted

Recommended Posts

Now that I've had a chance to look at the scores, here are some familiar names:

qman won M4 class and set the best morning run total time as well as the best single run time in his red hot Impreza.

XSNRG took 6th in M4 with his white RX and was only 1 second behind qman for best single run time. He also was 2nd Time Only in the afternoon runs.

I managed to place 8th in P4 in the morning in my '94 Impreza, but came back to take 1st in the afternoon for Time Only; 2nd for overall best time for the afternoon run.

GLCraigGt was 11th in P4 in his trusty '84 wagon with exceptionally consistent times for all 5 runs in spite of the water truck making the course slick.

99Legacy took 2nd in S4 with his bargain Impreza and rebuilt engine. I believe that's his second 2nd place finish in two tries.

cfwdfw (Charlie from the nasioc board) placed 3rd in P4 in my Impreza and is currently in the lead for season P4 honors.

congrats, guys,

looks like some good times - but why all the "gates?"

SEVEN gate penalties on the top OA drivers - what's

that about?

how was the course layout?

5 runs - maybe we should start restricting entries so

we get 5 everytime.;)

Missed ya' out there Bill. How was Thunderhill? The two others I talked to said it was less than pleasant. What did you think?

I do not know why the gates happened. I thought it was pretty straight forward. I guess it was the fact that if you didn't make a mistake the course flowed great. But... if you made a mistake it would not flow so well.

April did a good job with course layout. The powers that be were pressuring her to water at every moment. She held the line when the afternoon session was under way and no water truck as the winds were blowing SE away from the track.

See ya' soon, Ken

Being one who collected a gate penalty on the first run and I still don't know where I did it; never did it again in the next 9 runs either. Course was great and lots o' fun. Some of the other gate penalties were the fact the the first run was slick and the two slaloms were very tight...not hard to collect a gate penalty then. Besides the relatively low entry, the course was quick, low 60's for the faster cars; AND April kept everything ON TIME. They almost had enough time for fun runs at the end, but elected to clean up the course and pack it up in time for results. Everyone was on the way home around 4:30 or 5:00. Published results in 3 days wasn't bad either.

...Thunderhill....less than pleasant....pressuring her to water at every moment....

Yeah, I was just talkin' to a former RX'r who was driven out of the sport by the waterheads and their dust paranoia. Thunderhill had an unbelievable amount of dust - had to wear a bandanna mask for a few seconds each lap at my worker staion - and no complaints from CalTrans or from the adjacent m/c road racers. If all that dust was acceptable to the National RX Director, what gives with ..... ?

Biggest issue was the record 117F temp. on Sunday (only 114 on Sat) - made the air hanging over I-5 about 130F for the drive home - with no A/C!!

Congrats on the overdue win,

Bill

...the two slaloms were very tight...

I don't see any reason for slaloms to be shrinking like they have over the last couple of years. They should be far enough between cones to allow drivers with standard wheelbases to use their pendulum techniques -requiring more speed when the traction is good.

Not only were they tight, but also short 3 and 4 cones each if I remember correctly. But the reason for the tight slaloms I suspect was that the PIR field is truly too small to lay out a decent length rallycross. I like PIR since it makes getting there and back from Seattle so much easier than fighting the traffic on 26 from Hillsboro.
