Dadeeo
Hi New guy here, TomRhere sent me the link to this board after I outbid him for a XT-6 on eBay. I sent a e-mail to the "loser" (Tom) more to check out if perhaps he was the seller trying to run the bidding up more than anything else. Sorry Tom. But he replied with such a nice return e-mail I almost was sorry I outbid him. Notice I said "almost", I still would rather have the car myself. I'm surprised at the large Brat following I found here, and really like the look of SubaruBrat's car. Are those fender flares designed for Brats, or are they from some other application? As for the XT-6. 1. TomRhere has first rights if I don't keep it. He was quick to make that clear. :-) 2. The car has rust (what Michigan car doesn't), are replacement panels available for older Subarus? 3. I've heard of being able to flop the ring gear in the transaxle and flipping the rear differential to make a 4X4 volkswagan with the drivetrain. Would that be a possability for a XT thats too rusty to save? Regards, Dadeeo
TomRhere
No hard feelings at all. Okay, maybe a little. It was mine:boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo:
GeneralDisorder
Those fender flares as I recall are cut down from some 80's Toyota flares. To my knowledge, replacement panels are available only from Subaru (and most of the time not even then), or from you + a sawzall + a junk yard. Never heard anything about the VW thing - but then this isn't a VW forum, and why would you do that to a perfectly good XT-6 drivetrain - do the right thing, and put it in a Brat. MilesFox
yo! dont worry about bidding out Tom. i arranged a deal with the xt in butler, splitting it 2 ways. but jim down in ohio has a mint xt for parts, nice clean grey body, straight doors and fenders, glass, lights. he wants to junk it soon(cant get a title), so get on it. maybe i can bring you back some parts(i am at jims right now). if youre interested i'll tell jim! TomRhere
Miles: Was just going to email Jim about that myself. But seeing as your there, tell him. Dadeeo: I've seen this XT-4. It is a sweet looking car. Real shame Jim can't get a title for it. They're in the process of parting it out, but the shell will still be there, as they're not doing any sheetmetal removal that I know of. Jim's handle here on the board is 86subaru, send him an email, or a Private Message. Click on the members button at the top of the main page, this forum. You'll find him listed in there. calebz
Thats interesting that you brought up the question about the ring gear. I was just having that conversation with someone else today.. yes, it can be done.
Dadeeo
Somebody stop Jim. :-) That would be great if I could use parts off his car or even the whole shell. Dadeeo
