RFLMAO:lol: (plastic sucks when it is cold)

But also remember, if it's cold out, and you've had a bit much to drink..deciding to paint your snorkle could result in broken pvc joints all over your kitchen floor :drunk:...... :banghead:

so, my wife could possibly give me the OK on a snorkle soon...

i want to make it look nice, so i'd like to not use PVC. what kinds of ideas are out there on non-pvc snorkles (aside from fabbing an actual snorkle)?

pvc can be heated and bent to form to the car, you can use a hot box or a wrap type heater ,we do it all the time in installing jets on hot tubs

a heat gun works really well too. (used for shrink tubing, etc..)

as to the explain.... to bend plastic tube/pipe, you heat it (dont' burn it) until it gets to a point where it will bend.. that's about it.. then you bend it, and let it cool.

It's best to work the heat around the plastic if you can...rotate it, etc.. to make a nice even bend. That's what i did with mine at least.

You can see the bend here:

I think austin did the same thing... but he may have used a blow torch :brow: I tried it that way first... kept burning the plastic....

ALSO, if you're going to paint it afterwards, be sure to wipe it down with some acetone first, because pvc comes with some greasey/oily coating which will make your paint not stick well.. and chip right off.

I started on my snorkel today. You are going to have to bend the pipe unless you can get a 120deg elbow for the \__ windshield to fender. Also on the obw the hole if using the stock air box is really low on the fender, so this might take some bending also. I haven't gotten this far yet because I am to afraid to cut a hole in my fender.

Check out Donaldson prefilter Top Spin. This is what I plan on using, if I ever get the balls to cut my fender.

to get it to come out higher like that i used a 45deg' bend that went right into the airbox.. then sealed it from there. to cut the hole.. that was the exciting part... i put some silicon on the 45deg. and then ploped the fender on where it would sit.. then pulled it off again, and there was a rough outline of the hole... i punched through w/ a 2" hole saw, and then used a dremal tool to clean it up, and make it fit perfectly.

and.. the hole in the front there is when i tried to use 1.5" pvc.. just not enough air flow... use AT LEAST 2"...

but whatever, you'll find out after the first hole :-\
