Elroy Jetson
More photos tomorrow when its finally ready!! Here's a peak: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=11879&cat=500 She looks in prime shape! Did all gen 1 subes have front disk brakes? Can't remember if my old 79 wagon did or not. Wayne
DerFahrer
My brochures going back to 76 specifically say all models have front disc brakes, so yes your 79, and my 79, have front discs. Paul says, and some others have said it too, that the FF1 (what you referred to as the Star) had inboard-mounted drum brakes, meaning they were mounted inside of the axles, on the transmission I'm guessing. The early Gen1's (72-75) I want to say had outboard-mounted drums. If Paul doesn't respond first, I'll check tomorrow. Can't wait to see the pics Bryan! moosens
Yup,that's right.Drum brakes on '72-75 non ff-1's,except the Coupe which got disk brakes from '72 onward. The ff-1's brakes are near the tranny.
Sweet82
I'm not a big Gen 1 fan but that's a sweet ride! It truely looks like we're back in 1978 (again :-\) Fantastic job on the restoration!
