czyivn
This board is a lifesaver. Took my '95 impreza in for 120k servicing at a dealership, they replaced some hoses, timing belt, etc. for a small fortune. The big one, though, was that my car was developing the dreaded torque bind (auto trans) and shuddering on low speed turns. They told me the transfer clutches were bad, and needed to be replaced, at a cost of $1200 (a significant fraction of the value of the car). They even went so far as to tell me "it'll get worse if you don't fix it", the rat bastards. They did tell me that I could put in the 2wd fuse as I was leaving, as a temporary fix. Luckily their description of the problem gave me enough to search on this message board, and I had the transmission flushed at jiffy lube, and the problem was miraculously gone after driving around for a bit. Kudos to you USMB, you saved me $1200 (or even the price of buying a different car).

nipper
thw clutch pack should be 800-900 in a dealership. You resort to this only if the flush doesnt fix it. Jiffy lube depends on the independent shop. The on by ,e is fine as long as they dont touch the tire pressures. nipper
