I think that is designed backwards.

Electrical power on: disengaged, no risk of damage.

Electrical power off: 100% engaged, potential risk of damage if front & back don't spin at the same rate.

Seems that if those two conditions were reversed, we'd have a more "fail-safe" design.

Just sayin'.

Or maybe I'm totally wrong! If so tell me.

I'd prefer that as well

UPDATE::

i just got off the phone with subaru and they're saying that the problem lies in the Duty C and the tranfer case housing.

Quoted price: $892.48

sound reasonable?

i paid 950 including a transmission mount, so yes thats a good prive. Dont be surprised if they tell you you need a tranny mount. Its not uncommon for them to fall apart when the tranny is serviced like this.

Anytime I forced 4x4 mode, I threw a light. Until I put in a dummy resistor load, making the TCM "think" that it was still connected to the solenoid.

hmm....i know that when i hook up my flux capacitor to my to green day connector, i throw a light every time.

(that green day part is a line from House Arrest)
