P K
Hello All, I have searched but don't have the complete detail of what I want. If someone could point me to relevent USMB threads, I would be most grateful. Situation is I want to switch transmissions between my: 82 Brat with 4 speed D/R 92 Loyale with 3AT part-time 4WD Desire to put the 3AT in the Brat, and the 4 speed (or get 5spd) in the Loyale. Don't condemn me for the blasphemy, I just need an AT Brat, and a DR wagon. Unanswered questions: 1. Do I need a lift kit to get the AT under the Brat? 2. Should I ditch the 4 spd and get a 5 spd for the Loyale? (driveshaft?) 3. Will an EA81 pedal box fit to an EA82, and vice-versa? 4. Do I need to buy an EA81 torque converter or will the EA82 fit? or can I switch flywheels too? 5. What am I forgetting - I have both complete vehicles, so any part that needs to go to the other is available. Thanks in advance, r/PK.
Jerry DeMoss
Don't think you will need a lift to put in the A/T.I think the two pedal clusters are different so you will have to do a little switch er roo.If I think of something else I will post it. Turbone
1. No lift needed, Brats also came with 3AT. You will need to change the radius rod plates and tranny mounts tho. 2. Yes, get a 5spd D/R for the Loyale. You will need the 2 piece driveline that comes with it. 3. Dont think the pedal boxes are the same, but might be adaptable. 4. Not sure, but I think the TC is the same. But the flexplate might be different. Easy to check tho, just slap it on and put a few bolts in. Turn the engine (by hand) and see if it rubs. 5. Dont forget the nuetral safety switchs.
