Tosh
I'm considering running the WRX downpipe now I know I need to weld on an 02 bung but besides that what other modifications do I need to do ? I heard something about there being a rubbing issue ? what do I need to grind down/remove to solve that. Thanks guys.
carfreak85
Removing the heat sheilds and the cat would, I imagine, help the rubbing issue. Might have to pound on the firewall though.
subyrally
on mine. i had to twist and lengthen the down pipe, but then again, i ad to make mine a fully custom set up.
Caboobaroo
I got an aftermarket Megan Racing 3" bellmouth and had NO rubbing issues. So I think carfreak is right, cat and heat shields are what rubs, not the piping itself.

The heatshielding does rub, but the pipe did as well.. even without the shielding on there. I had to heat the bottom bend and bend it down just a hair so it would clear the Xmember

That is flippin' awesome!!! I imagine that thing runs like a scalded cat! Is that a WRX FMIC piping kit? Do you have any pics of your FMIC? I just love seeing Subarus with a nice set of braces!!!
