desertsubaru
Seafoam works well. Just did my tri monthly clean out with it and have allready got better power and milage. I dumped about a third of a can down my carb while it was running, reving the engine enough so it didnt stall, turned off car let sit for ten minutes started back up rev untill smoke stopped and wala clean upper half. bgd73
I'm not one for putting chemicals in the base besides good oil, but I do grab those miracle fuel system cleaners once and awhile-- some work the sube for months on end into better(just one use). My latest go was with some discount stuff called suv fuel tank cleaner (who in heck came up with that one), but anyway- it does degum (where valves have the prob over years if heads overheating are ruled out, etc). The crap making top end noise came through intake -- feed fuel some good stuff and go with it.

daeron
Anything pretaining to MOPAR will smoke. good one. Yah, that product sounds virtually identical to seafoam.. Lots of mechanic shops have their own line of engine products that contain something along the lines of seafoam for top end cleaning, as well as all the other little automotive chemical treatments, flushes, or additives that ARENT complete bogus junk (stop leak, stop slip trans additive, etc...) and sea foam seems to actually be a brand name that is slowly working a commercially available version of most of that stuff in our parts stores... the only seafoam product ive tried beyond the top end cleaner is the Deep Creep penetrating lubricant.. as for that stuff.. remember what it was like the first time someone handed you a can of PB B'Laster after a lifetime of liquid wrench, CRC, and WD-40??? it was like, this stuff actually WORKS!!!.. seafoam deep creep is as much better than PB, as PB is better than WD-40.. but it costs. like 7-8 bucks a can. TOTALLY worth it though, coming from a poor cheapskate.

I had one on my 47 cessna one day. Landed at an airport, took off the valve cover, trickled gas on the valve stem while tapping the valve stem with a hammer. It freed right up. If you have problems like this, learn to change your oil on time, and youll stay out of trouble!
WheaT_BeeR_MaN
so i ran some sea foam. im pretty sure it was in need of a good cleaning. when i pouring it in it started to smoke, i was thinking that it means it was pretty dirty in there. does that mean i should do it again? or should i wait? im gonna be heading up to wcss at the end of the week so i want it runnin good of course
daeron
well, youre supposed to pour it in, and after a certain amount cut the engine off and let it sit for five or ten minutes, arent you? maybe this is an FI/carb difference or something, but ive always sucked it up with a vacuum line, and then cut the engine for ten minutes. THEN run it, and it smokes like crazy. the smoking is everything it cleans out being burned off. im fairly certain you are supposed to give it more contact time, but it had to help, whatever you did. as far as a second application.. the seafoam itself shouldnt cause too much smoking... its the stuff that burns off. if you try it again, and its clean, no smoke.. that means you were finished the first time. I have never done two applications in a row. if you want to give it a shot, it shouldnt hurt. anyone else do two seafoam treatments in short succession??
