ausubaru92
I have a Turbo from a AUDM (i think) EA82 Vortex It has the following stamped on the housing Turbo Spec. VF48803 Serial No. RHB5 16298A Does this mean i have a IHI RHB5 turbo that is a VF4 spec I have seen most turbos mentioned on here as VF7. Whats the difference? Your comments are greatly appreciated Gannon
calebz
Whats the difference? None as far as I can tell. I have one with a VF4xxx number, and another with a VF7xxx number. Appear to be identical. Came off of similarly equipped cars.. 87-88 GL-10 wagons..
joostvdw
the RHB5 code says something about the internals, the compressor wheel dimensions and so forth the VF4 or VF7 code specifies the whole turbo unit, so they may have the same internals, but different housings or mounting pounts. that's what I always thought anyway... calebz
If mine are any indication, its probably more of a serial number type thing. As I said. I have 2 that are identical, from nearly identical cars. Each with a different designation.
