Well, we made it.

I'd like to thank all the organizers which include Ken, Eric, Corky, Richie, Ed(and their families) for another outstanding WCSS. Your hard work does not go unnoticed here, and is greatly appreciated.      :headbang:

Also thanks to Scoobyclimbs for the trail tour, very enjoyable (even if I now have a new exhaust leak from that ride  )..woulda never seen so much more of the local beautiful scenery than just from the highway.

Arrived home Monday night.

Surprisingly (or not? ) our EA81s made it just fine, no breakdowns whatsoever. There were a couple of very short unscheduled stops, only to cure the wheel imbalance caused by the mud stuck to the wheels from the pit.

A beautiful drive, both directions. We followed a mostly circular route, taking different routes to/from the show.

Total miles driven (my rig): 1460, ending mileage 304,804.:headbang:

AFIK, the Arizona guys (Dave and Ted) left for home after the rallycross. Those guys deserve props for driving a 20 year old car 1400 miles across some of the hottest desert in the country to get to the show, took the trail run, did a few laps in the mud pit, and both drivers used that car in the rallycross...then are in the process right now taking it back home 1400 miles away.

I'm terrible with names, but I do remember the people:). I'm not nearly as talented at "working the room" as Junkie, but I managed to meet some new friends and see some old ones. Kurt, it was good to see ya again, haven't seen you since #3 at Thurston:cool: . As was mentioned in another thread, the Canadians were cool..I hung with the guys with the engine-swapped BRAT, comparing notes about Americans/Canadians:lol:  , muscle cars, beer and Moutain Dew (what a riot :D). Styles, thanks for the "test ride", I think I'm going bike shopping today:) (oh..BTW, I'm more than TWICE your age, and managed to be awake later than you both nights, what's up with that?? ). Noah, you DA MAN for pullin' that truck out of the mud on video! Those locals were mostly good natured about being pulled out though, that could have got real ugly, even with the sherriff there. Corky, we need to have those beers together, I found some interesting stuff this time. Mike, PM me if you need some questions answered from a different perspective about your house..and thanks for the stuff, the '87 will live a little longer with help from my '83 (almost to 305K now :headbang: ). I know I met and hung with so many more, just can't remember (or didn't get) names..but I'll remember you or your car next time:cool: .

/Dave

Yea, that would be nice, I didn't get anywhere near the beer garden, don't even know if one exsisted. I had one of my Guiness' sitting in the dark by my tent with my wife (who unknown to most of you is going through chemotherapy for breast cancer, and made the trip to the show, now that's dedication). I took some dash plaques over to John (Subaru West) and had a great single malted scotch. When back to my tent slept great until about 1:30 AM (I'll stop at that). Next year if there is a show, I'll have a lot more time to enjoy the show like I did at WCSS 3 (the last time that I had a good time at a show).

Must have been reading about you guys drinking...I opened a bottle of rum tonight, and I never, never drink at home. It's Mount Gay,don't bust my chops, and was a stag party raffle prize, only reason I have it.So,I'll sip a slow one and see if you send that PM before I lapse into zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

So how close are you guys to the river from there?Someday I need to get there and die trying to shredd the Gorge as an aging punk stick flyer.:-\ Gotta be a lot of those new flyers out there now, what do they call 'em??? Chute boarders? or something like that?Para surfers?Gotta see that river and the Gorge someday.....and you guys,of course.;)
