Changing my fuel filter. Trying to depressurize the fuel system by pulling the fuel pump fuse and running the engine till it stops. Well it doesnt stop. Ran for 20 minutes sans the fuse. What the hell, can i just disconnect the fuel filter, im a little nervouse since it has like 20psi. And im not sure if its gonna be a constant flow...

Then you had the wrong fuse.

Either pull the fuel pump power connector apart back where the fuel pump lives (passenger's side, behind the rear door, up above a protective hunk of metal), or just pull the lines apart with a rag under 'em.

It'll spurt a bit, but nothing major.

...

The engine will not run for 20 minutes without the fuel pump. It won't run for 20 seconds without the fuel pump.

Therefore, whatever fuse you pulled was not responsible for feeding the fuel pump power, or has somehow been bypassed.

  • 2 weeks later...

oops, didnt tell you that part over in the mileage thread. no problems retarting, just put it together and turn the key on.. let it sit on for a few seconds before you crank it, it helps a little.. and be willing to crank a bit longer than usual. (duh)

Other than that, its fine. no priming needed, nothing. plug and play.
