Joey Joe
I have searched but haven't had any luck. Left rear window on my 1990 subaru loyale is stuck down. There are 4 switches on the driver door to control the windows, using these switches the passenger side windows will go down but not up. They will go up if the switch adjacent to that window is used. The window that is stuck down went down but wouldnt go back up, I kept lowering it to see if I could get it to go up afterwards and each time I tried I could tell it was loosing power until the window would not go down or up. So now it is stuck half way. I am only concerned with the window stuck down but think the problems could be linked. Does anyone have any idea what this most likely is? Thank you for your time
NorthWet
I am tired, so I might have missed this in your post: Does the (single) switch on the door raise/lower its window? Either way, the problem is likely dirty switch contacts. I haven't opened up the master switch yet, but the individual switches are pretty easy to clean. Take off door panel, unscrew switch from panel, unscrew (IIRC) the back of the switch (with switch upside down), open up, clean contacts. Rreverse procedure to install. (BTW, do you still have those T-Loyale axle shafts for the Automatic? )
daeron
sounds like northwet set you on course, this is almost certainly a switch problem. Ive been thinking about grabbing a couple spares in the junkyard someday.. but havent gotten around to it yet. If you can get any function out of a window with any switch, chances are a new switch will work the window like new. since ive been meaning to start a thread with virtually the same subject to ask this question, Please dont hate me for a bit of a hijack.. BUT.. my windows are REALLY slow... i have been assuming that was from wear and/or carbon and gunk buildup on the brushes of the motors... because each is different.. is it possible or likely that my problem is resistance in the switches?? they seem to function the same way regardless of what switch is used. i guess the easy way to find out would be to clean the master switch and find out... or take all the window motors out and service them... Loyale 2.7 Turbo
I think it is rust on the contacts, but also it is caused by a weak relay, let me explain: in Loyales, under the passengers seat floor (Near the belt´s base) -under the carpet- lies the main power windows relay. I changed ALL the relays from both my wagons to "BOSCH" brand ones, along with the plugs, it increases the performance of all systems (like A/C, Etc...), and in power windows it helps with the loose of power that dirty contacts cause. So, I suggest to clean contacts in all switches, (or change ´em with anothers that can be found at junk yard) and change the weak relay. Good Luck!!! daeron
great! that relay is a MUCH easier fix to try, ill have to get one out at the junkyard. that would be sweet. thanks alot for the info on how the system is put together!

Joey Joe
Cleaning the switches worked. When I took it apart, eveything fell out and there was a moment of panic but once cleaned and back together the window is alive
