I just bough a 1987 subaru gl wagon.it has a clarion CD headunit,Everything appears to be wired correctly except the front right speaker on the front door is missing(non existant, wires exposed) anyway it looks to be a nice system with speakers in the rear doors aswell.the speakers are not oem.No matter how much I turn the volume up there is no sound.Nothing.So what could be causing this?

IF the wires were exposed and touched each other it may of blew out that specfic channel of that speaker.

It is posiable that it did not damage the main power supply so the radio would still come on.

IF it is bad you are looking at about 80 dollars to repair the bad mosfet or hexfet...

I used to work for a repair store and we did sale clarion.

Try to get a speaker that is not from that car and hook it up and see if it works.

You can also use a multi meter.

Im done splicing all the wires together but I have three wires left from the old harness that pluged into the subi. Here goes:Orange-dash illumination,my reciever when it has power lights up so ok.Black-ground on the reciver harness(my reciver came out of a ford truck-my dad's) anyway black on the harness that came with my dad's CD player goes to a box that the yellow wire passes through.does it ground to inside the box?And finally- blue, blue is for a motorized antenna so I guess Im good. The only thing I have an issue with is the black.

Installed it.It kicks rump roast!!! is there anyway I can fit 6 1/4" in the front doors?(I have a bunch of those around).also is there speaker wiring in the rear area(behind the rear doors?) I have some 6x9's that need a home.er maybe not 3(need another 5 1/4 or whatever the front is) to make four speakers, that many speakers in something as small as a subi is incredible. And I was sitting in the passenger seat(no speaker in right front door)...its great...

Man you can fit any size speaker you want it just depends how much u want to mod the door trims etc. i had 6" splitters and 6x9's in the front doors of my old brumby. just to day i am apout to fit a new i-pod ready alpine headunit to my new brumby. i think there is an article in the usrm? i know there is one in phizanas web site www.offroadingsubarus.com

not sure what the door panels look like on the back side where the speaker is,but you could probably get 6.5" in the front doors by cutting a ring out of MDF that will fit a 6.5,mount it to the door then screw the speaker to the ring..

you could try splice in speaker wire an running it to the back for the 6x9s...though it could take some power away from the back door speakers an cause them to not perform like before.

pull the deck from the dash. undo all the speaker wires, leave power, aux power, and ant, maybe amp alone.

Direct route new wire (solid as in one peace) and ignore the unrealiable and color varient subaru wires. twist em tight and tape em up good.

Its completely possible youve blown the channels by touching wires.

Its always nice to start with a new deck.

The new Sony Xplode 55wt /channel deck is nice with Aux in and Sub out. Should only run u like $60 down in the states. here is was around 90.

my system in my loyale is pretty ghetto but its reliable and works well.

No harness, just spliced what i needed (power, ant, aux) and direct wired the rest. Amp under the driver seat to a single 10 behind the passenger seat in a small box. new 6.5 3ways for the front and moved stock 6.5 beaters to the rear (self tapping screws into door frame). Shes loud.

Unless you use a sub though, you wont get low sounds from 6.5s expecialy 3 ways. If you want volume go 2 ways at least of custom fit 6x9s.
