Pony66
I have a 1996 Legacy Wagon, I love it. Id like to get the higher ground clearance of the Outback model. Are the struts different? What parts give the Outback its lift?

Are the struts different? What parts give the Outback its lift? struts/tires. some people say the springs are stiffer too, but i'm not sure about that. i put outback struts on my 96 legacy and have the same amount of clearance as an outback (after installing larger tires). guy123
This is quite a common retrofit. Search the forums with "outback struts" or other words like "legacy" and "lift." There have been tons of posts about this stuff, just need to do a little digging.
porcupine73
Yep, I'm planning to do the same retrofit on '96 Legacy Wagon, planning to use KYB struts for '96 Outback and probably '96 OE springs unless I can find a reasonable aftermarket alternative; love them King Springs but have to order from Australia.... oh yah, you probably need an alignment after doing this project.
