nipper
Good question, i wonder if there are any like performance ECU chips. not any real chips. Trust me we have been looking There is a very very very expensive ECU available that is programable. nipper
Manarius
There is no speed limiter on the pre-94 models. The only limit is the gearbox and engine. I have a movie of a 91 (I think) doing 130+.

After trying a torquechip, I'm just not sold on "plug-in" chip type engine management.

Megell
They should do that and then some. I had mine up to 130 on level ground on one of the tollroads around houston Thanks for the uplift....I thought the 129 mph was a bit anemic for this car. I just got my 91 turbo sedan back from the dealer with new clutch and can now enjoy a few tests of my own. 7000" altitude isn't going to help much though. nipper
Not sure what you mean.. i used the pull down menu to pick the make model and car. The only options were a 2.2L turbo and a 2.5L turbo. i get the feeling this is generic box that fits anything. i also get the feeling it may over ride the ECU instead of reprograming it. Would be interesting to see the install directions nipper
ericem
what was the pop noise as you aproached 140 nipper Yes good question, could it be the engine running with no oil and seizing, hehe. Or the ecu has a governor, and cut off the engine, eh? Isnt that how the governor's work, i gota make the same video, with my 93 legacy wagon. But it takes long with a non turbo car. Maybe after i drop in my STi engine ill do the video, should only take a few second, lol.

Typically boxes like that modify the signal going to the ECU to get it to increase fuel or timing, etc.
testy
you probably wont gain signifacant power unless you change the injectors and edit plug gaps. ps. Hit 115 mph in my 91 Loyale, 5mt.
