PolyBushings

Hey anyone know where i can get poly bushings for my car.. i bought it from rallyruss and it has everything except the swaybar bushings done to it and also i would like to replace the shift bushings... its getting annoying how loose it is! i am willing to get stock bushing from 1stsubaruparts.net i think it is but polys would surely feel stiffer

i just hacked my way thru the net and found that, for the price on the full-car kit for my Zcar, summit racing equipment was cheaper than anyone else..

 

it was odd, all the other companies had the same price.. about 175.. and summit had it for 150 and change.. its like their markup was lower. thats why i thought i would mention it.

well, "rubber" hasnt necessarily meant natural rubber latex since WWII... so its not necessarily cheaper than rubber.

 

secondly, wait till you get to take an economics class :) again, not being a jerk, im just saying that, the simple fact that it is a "performance part" guarantees that itll be more expensive than stock simply because. its a demand thing, if they charged less they would sell more units, but in the end not make as much money. once you take the economics class, it WILL make sense i promise you.. its the unfair-seeming side of capitalism, unfortunately.

they are stiffer than typical compounds used for suspension bushings. this conducts more vibration and road feel through the suspension and into the car, and allows for more precise handling.

 

there may be instances where replacing with poly bishings is cheaper than stock/oem bushings, i dont doubt.. but its not a "cheap alternative" so to speak, you know? i honestly couldnt tell you how much stock bushings might run, ive never looked into it :lol:

the ones on the car are made by superpro if I rember correct. I belive they came from down under (AU). WJM was in the business of distributing some at one point. He may know where to find more. they were reasonably priced in conparison to stock bushings at the time.

you may just want to get the factory ones. they are probably simpler to find.

 

as for the shift bushings the oem ones are the only option that I know of.

ah yes.. poly bushings are usually considered a performance upgrade as they handle better and last longer than most factory parts when made properly. they do tend to make the ride a little bit harsher though for those who care.

I put ES poly bushings on the front sway bar of my XT6 a couple of months ago, and they made a hell of a difference! All the sudden my rear end swings out in the hairpins.:banana: I did a write-up of what was involved, including part numbers, on xt6.net. You would probably have to order different bushins, though, if your bar isn't 20mm.
