cd45
Ok, I have a 1987 GL Wagon. It was given to me by my Brother. It has been a daily driver for about 2 years. The only thing that I never liked about it was the color, kind of a pink, purple, champaigne. I wanted another color, I chose Olive Drab, you know Army Green. I have been painting it on calm days, with a spray can, and I am finally done with the drivers side. I am posting a pic to show it off. I got the wagon wheels off of a 1980 wagon, and painted them black. All the paint is flat, absolutey no shine. I love the way it turned out. bgd73
Too bad it was spray cans! A good spray gun can really get it on there for a looong time. Two different worlds of painting, even with same color. The cheapest way out I found was a small 20 gallon tank at 50lb pressure and a 20 dollar spray gun. It is so worth it. Spray cans add something, even a rust accellerant. I have never had luck with it, unless whatever was being painted with cans was out of the weather. I Like the black wheels with the army color. If to get a spray gun, there is some incredible chemistry out there to put on the car. web searches find alot of good stuff.
GeneralDisorder
If you really want it to look military, you need to paint over EVERYTHING that isn't glass, mirror, lens, or tire. Rims should be OD too. Add a few fake bumper numbers in white stencil, and since you are using OD, you need some Korean war era white stars on the roof (to keep the air corp from bombing you), and sides. GD Along the lines of what my Hatch is getting, but the markings and wheels are going to be flat black. It looks nice, I have always loved the look of a true flat OD Green. So many of the rattle cans have a bit of a shimmer to them, but that stuff seems to lay on there really nice.
