Wayne Boncyk
Don't know enough about your car (model, engine, tranny, year, etc., would be helpful) to answer that. Sounds like you may be encountering a rough upshift to the highest gear... does the jerkiness happen at lower speed shift points, too?
BIGBLUE1212
1997, legacy gt, auto, does it while cruising in fourth well after the shift.....clutch....should i replace the tranny fluid....it looks good
Manarius
110km/h is like 65-70 MPH. So, I wonder if it's your torque converter jumping in and out of being locked.

tcspeer
Maybe the spark plug wires are breaking down. hey everyone at high speeds 110+km/h my car seems to jerk/lurch forward and the rpms go up and down....it happens around 3-4000rpm. Cougar
You may have a weak fuel pump causing this to happen.
BIGBLUE1212
if its the fuel pump shouldnt it happen at anytime....this only happens when in 4th gear at 3-4000rpm

jjou812
Throttle Position Sensor. it's like a rheostat. it could be bad in that spot you hold the gas pedal to maintain 65 mph or maybe when they did the headgaskets they knocked it out of adjustment. just a guess, could be many other things........... BIGBLUE1212
like what?....the engine light is on but it'll cost me 75 bucks to get the code i dont know where to go to get a reading for cheap im in toronto canada by the way
Cougar
A fuel pump can cause the type problem you are having. A TPS is the throttle position sensor. It is a variable resistor. As the gas pedal moves so does the voltage from the sensor. I think the lower the voltage goes the faster the engine revs. It is backwards what you would think it should be. Places like Autozone will read the codes for free.

burtonsnowman
my neighbour thinks its hunting for gears so i guess its the same thing Try driving in 3rd...see if it does it then. (Unless 65 in 3rd is, like, way high RPMs)
Manarius
Yes, try what the person above me said. If you put the car in 3rd, the torque converter won't lock up. If it does it still, then I guess it's a TPS or ailing fuel pump or something electronic. If it doesn't do it in 3rd, might be the torque converter.... 65 mph in 3rd is like....5000-5500? I haven't really got on the car lately to check. I do know though that on 4.11 gear, the very top of 2nd is like 60 mph.

Well u could jsut try shifting to 3rd to see what happens, but it really seems like it aint a torque converter, i think its a simple issue, does it do it with cruise control? I've never gone to a dealership but on other newer vehicles I've had I've always been able to go to any parts store and had it done for free. Doesnt make sense making you pay for that service considering all they do is hook up their tester thingy to one plug on your car, takes not even a minute, and that you're mostly likely going to buy whatever it is you need to fix your car through whoever pulled your codes. But then again its been a whole 9 months since I've owned a newer car with a computer so I guess things may have changed... :-\
