Be careful not to cross the line into racism with this post please.

 

One typo in the FSM and the whole world publishes incorrect information. Example: Torque spec on the early EJ series engines crank pulley bolt. 40 pounds under what it should have been typed as.

 

So where did you get that book?

I'm only refering to horribly translated Japanese to English....

 

Then simply say that. The conversation between the two of you can easily be misunderstood.

 

As far as Chilton and copyright infringement. Most of the time they get the manuals from the source or just buy them like any one else could. Chilton does claim to do complete tear down and rebuild. Although I don't quiet agree with some of the info I have seen over the years.

It's got zilch to do with race. It's about poorly trained translators, and the written form we used above is about people with accents. A white guy from chicago sounds funny too. And if I grew up learning Japanese as my first language I would probably sound just as funny. It's called lexicography. It has everything to do with speech, and nothing to do with the color of you skin. I bet I sound like a fool to the spanish foks at work when I try to speak their language.

 

Aint higher education wonderful? ;)

 

Oh, and my GF is half Japanese, and I drive a Japanese car (who would have guessed THAT?).... so I'm probably not the most racially motivated person you could find.

 

Not trying to start a fight about it, just clarifiying in case anyone *did* get the wrong idea.

I actually bought it off Ebay. I actually paid the 75 bucks for the engine and trans sections of the Justy manual from Subaru (there are 6 sections all together). I had to buy the manual because my Chilton's had so much incomplete information. Then I found the incomplete set on ebay and got it. I think I paid 10 bucks for the other 2 books.

 

Chilton's are decent enough for beginners, but if you really want the nuts and bolts, get the factory manual. I even have one for my LR Discovery II.
