Manarius
why do you want dohc on an ej22? won't that make it an interference engine? Compression increase. It will make it interference though. Timing would be a little weird.
cookie
Truly the worst of both worlds. Timing belt? I would not be surprised if someone has done this though.
offroadsubaruguy
the reason for the dohc is because someone is selling some complete heads for $100... otherwise i will go for the sohc heads if i can find some for a reasonable price..... cookie
Have you checked on Nasioc? I bet someone has already done this and might be able to help with the pitfalls.
DerFahrer
Compression increase. Even though it would be a decrease.
Manarius
Even though it would be a decrease. It would be? How so? DOHC heads are like 9.5 or something, right? Stock EJ22 is like 8:1 or something low like that.
DerFahrer
The head volume is one of the things that determines compression ratio. The EJ25 heads have a larger volume than the EJ22 heads, and thus, would decrease the compression ratio.

offroadsubaruguy
more expensive than $100 for the 2.5 heads.... it came out to like $600 or more to do the subie heads.....kinda bummed, cause port and polish would be nice.......i had even thought about swapping to the newer 2.2 heads and using 2.5 cams..... i just dont want to get rid of my 2.5 borla header.... I probably would use the EJ25 heads if I didn't have a set of EJ20G heads already. Notice that you remembered to paint the timing belt cover red too. Dr. RX
Where do you put the fifth injector? If you look on the intake manifold, just to the front of the trottle body, you'll see the 5th injector. I was put there for enrichment during certain engine conditions, it was later discontinued as they learned how to program the ECU better.
